Michael Stobbs, Managing Director

Michael is the founder and managing director of Latimer Vintners and has worked in the wine trade since leaving University in 1997. His career started with Oddbins and then Majestic before spending 4 years with John Armit Wines selling to private clients. In 2003 Michael started HS Liquid Assets a fine wine broking firm focusing on the UK and Bermudian market. After 10 succesful years of trading, HS Liquid is now providing wine investment consultancy services to wine investment funds and consortium. In 2013 Michael saw an opprotunity to create a new and exciting wine merchant and trading company. With the backing of a number of wine loving investors Latimer Vintners was founded.

Outside work Michael enjoys cooking, restaurants, cricket (both watching and playing), real tennis and the occasional run.

Christopher Herbert, Director
Sales and Purchasing

Christopher’s passion for wine started whilst working at the Real Tennis Club in Bordeaux during his gap year. After graduating from the University of Manchester he worked for Goedhuis and Lea & Sandeman before joining HS Liquid Assets in 2011. At Latimer Vintners Christopher sells to private clients and also looks after the agency side of the business. He is traditional in his vinous tastes and particularly enjoys the wines of Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Northern Rhone. Out of work Christopher enjoys playing real tennis as well as most other racquet sports. He also enjoys watching live sport, particularly Wales winning in Cardiff!

James Pymont, Director

James’ initial passion for Bordeaux was developed further whilst working on the shop floor at Corney & Barrow’s London shop, helping customers, driving the van and learning fast. However although Bordeaux remains a passion (and the majority of his day to day business) it was three years spent here climbing the ranks, where he discovered amongst others the wines of Burgundy and German Riesling – much to his wife’s distain his personal collection is ever growing! From C&B and after a short but productive stint at Bibendum he joined J&B, where he spent five years in the broking department developing the trading side of their business worldwide, more recently running their Asian (trade) sales. James joined Latimer in January 2014 to head up trading and brings with him a wealth of knowledge in this side of the market.

Outside of work Golf, Cycling are keen pastimes as well having a quite unhealthy obsession with skiing, although most of his free time is spent walking his dog Maya and supporting Chelsea FC , England Rugby and Cricket - the latter not always being as fulfilling as he would like.
