The 2019 Bourgogne Rouge, which contains 30% whole bunch and has a delightful redcurrant and cranberry scented bouquet. The palate is well balanced with crunchy red fruit, fine acidity with just the right amount of sapidity on the finish. Excellent. Drink 2021-2025.
Lavish and rich, just like its 2018 predecessor, Julien`s 2019 Aligoté mingles aromas of peach and yellow orchard fruit with vanilla pod. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and round, it`s broad and textural, with succulent acids and a saline finish. Drinking window: 2020-2026.
Crisp, fresh peach fruit with some floral notes. On the palate there is a lovely vibrancy and energy with fresh and juicy fruit, crisp acidity and lovely mineral salinity on the finish. Drink 2022-2024. LV
The 2018 Bourgogne Rouge soars from the glass with aromas of cherries, ripe berries and plums, framed by a deft application of spicy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and supple, this is a charming, richly fruited regional wine that will drink well on release.
The 2018 Bourgogne Rouge offers pleasant light tertiary/undergrowth scents on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly coarse tannins on the entry, dark berry fruit laced with brine, leading to a cohesive, slightly sinewy finish. Fine. Drink 2021-2025. 87/100, Neal Martin, vinous.com
Blend of Syrah and Grenache matured for 12 months in oak.
Still-dark crimson. Nicely married nose. Spicy, well-integrated black fruits – although more evolved than obvious either Syrah or Grenache. Very sweet start and slightly hot end. Quite structured – presumably thanks to the Syrah.
Harvested 23rd August, from fruit in Chassagne village and Haut Cote de Beaune. Stylish full of energy with a lovely lemon and lift. Palate is generous without being over ripe and a good line of acidity for freshness. Latimer Vintners
In 2017, Kumeu River spread its wings to Hawke`s Bay, purchasing Rays Road, a site on limestone at 180 meters in altitude. The 2020 Chardonnay Rays Road displays a fuller style, offering breadth and a smooth embrace.
The 2020 Petit Chablis opens in the glass with aromas of crisp green orchard fruit, white flowers and oyster shell. Medium-bodied, satiny and elegant, it`s a bright, precise wine with a long, saline finish. Like his Bourgogne Tonnerre, it`s one of the sleepers in Piuze`s portfolio this year.
