As summer swiftly approaches and the hunt for a delicious white starts, please see below stellar set of 2020 whites from our favourite grower in the Mâconnais – Domaine de la Sarazinière.
Having got a bottle of each up to the office this week to taste, we were all seriously impressed, and these wines stood out alongside a host of potential purchases, all considerably more expensive and reputed. Needless to say, a few cases were purchased shortly after by those in the room, which is the best endorcement we can give.
The Mâcon remains a great source of value in Burgundy, and none more so than at this estate. The Pavillon is elegant, refreshing and virbrant, with the Cuvée Claude Seigneuret VV a strong candidate of one of the best value white wines we offer. The combination of very old family vines and a small proportion of new oak lends itself a lovely balanced weight and texture.
A new addition to the range this year is the Pouilly-Fuissé ‘Le VII’ from vines recently purchased by the domaine, this is a steal at under £20 a bottle on the table.
