A deep and generous nose of black cherry and dark berry scents, with undertones of liquorice and black pepper. The palate is rich and well defined with a silky mouthfeel. Lots of sweet, dark fruit blends with floral, spicy notes. The tannins are well placed and the finish is fresh and lively.
A textbook Côtes du Rhône with instant appeal. The nose is classic with plenty of upfront sweet, dark fruit, smoked meat, violets and spice. The palate is medium bodied, with plenty of stuffing and structure. Silky tannins and a lively finish make this punch above its weight.
Derived from old-vine parcels in some of the domaine Pernot`s prime lieux-dits, including the celebrated Les Enseignères, the 2018 Puligny-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes wafts from the glass with aromas of fresh peach, ripe but crisp yellow orchard fruit, clear honey and blanched almonds.
This is the first year the Riserva includes fruit from newly acquired vineyards in San Sano and Capraia. The 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva Villa Antinori is stellar. In fact, the 2019 is the best vintage of this wine I have tasted and that comes through in the wine`s darkness and overall intensity.
Based on the 2015 vintage and disgorged with nine grams per liter dosage, the latest release of Billecart`s NV Brut Réserve contains fully 55% reserve wines and is showing very well, offering up complex aromas of warm bread, crisp green orchard fruit and citrus oil.
The 2020 Meursault Clos de Cromin has a perfumed nose with yellow plum, touchces of saffron and jasmine, all well defined. The palate is well balanced with a saline entry, good weight in the mouth, a little waxy in texture towards the finish with stem ginger on the aftertaste. Very fine.
The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Levrons has a delightful nose with candied orange peel, camomile and white tea scents. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, a touch of bitter lemon with a persistent finish. Excellent for a Village Cru.
Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2012 tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Chevalier Montrachet la Cabotte Grand Cru from Bouchard Père & Fils has a slightly more exotic bouquet within this flight with touches of white chocolate and almond originating from the more generous and conspicuous use of new oak.
